Isolation leads to social awkwardness due to lack of exposure. It creates a sense of obliviousness that hinders a child more than anything.
Social skills are a human's most essential Survival Skill. Without it it becomes that much harder for a person to adapt to survive. If you put your kids in private school do it because it's simply a better school not because it's a quote-on-quote "Safer School".
Otherwise you could potentially be robbing them of an experience that could develop them in more ways than a sheltered environment every could.
